Role Purpose

  • The role of Supply Chain Manager- Supply Chain Development, is accountable for providing best in class global supply chain development solutions to the function, the business and the group, delivering added value and supporting supply chain enabled competitive advantage.
  • The Supply Chain Manager- Supply Chain Development will support supply chain continuous improvement initiatives including: Supporting Infrastructure (systems, process & data), Supply Chain Performance, Sustainable Procurement and Communication & Professional Develpoment.


Key Accountabilities

  • Collaboratively develop plans with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of targets, improve supplier performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Management and presentation of business data and insights.
  • Encourage and support peers in the complying with process, governance and controls as set out in QinetiQ’s Operating Framework.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop and enhance systems, process, and best practice sharing to help QinetiQ achieve best in class performance, and bring consistency to sourcing activities.
  • Encourage and support peers in the promotion of inclusive and sustainable procurement.
  • Collaboratively develop innovative ways to communicate internally and externally to increase engagement.
  • Support the organisational and function in imporving awareness and education in the area of supply chain.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in order to influence and gain support for supply chain development initiatives.  
  • Maintain awareness of the restrictions, controls and accreditations that are placed upon suppliers working in QinetiQ’s core markets.
  • Engage and collaborate across the supply chain and procurement team and with the wider business, to identify opportunities for supply chain development initiatives.


Key Capabilities/Knowledge


  • Excellent communicator and ability to build relationships with peers as a trusted advisor.
  • Ability to consider and evaluate the bigger picture whilst understanding the criticality of the details of delivery, risk and supply chain assurance.
  • Ability to operate and positively influence in a hybrid-matrix organisation.


  • Knowledge of supplier development programmes.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of supply chain governance and assurance.
  • Knowledge of procurement systems and infrastructure.
  • Experience in the delivery projects and supply chains through; flexibility, agility and imagination.
  • Experience and/or understanding of the principles and delivery of; Strategic Sourcing, Category Management and Supply Chain Management.


  • Passionate and enthusiastic about the unlocking the value that the supply chain can offer/develop.
  • Adaptability and appetite to develop innovative supply chain development solutions.
  • Delivery and achievement focused, managing conflicting priorities whilst working at pace.
  • Highly customer focused and motivated by exceeding customer expectations.


Experience & Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in a Business or Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) or studying towards MCIPS .
  • 2+ years in a Procurement, Supply Chain Management or relatable role.
