The role


Working as a member of the Haslar and Portsdown site support teams, undertake a range of administrative duties to support the Head of Site (HoS) for both sites. This will involve following processes and procedures with limited guidance and supervision following appropriate training if required.

Role covers support to both sites and is nominally a 50% split between the two each week with occasional extended periods at each site to cover leave, sickness and special events. Flexible/Hybrid working is also available.

This role requires travel to and from both sites but can be based in either with work being conducted remotely for periods of time.


What will I be doing?


  • Support the delivery of a high quality administrative support service to the Heads of Site at Haslar and Portsdown sites with limited supervision and guidance and works within clearly defined procedures.
  • Resolve standard queries escalating more complex issues to relevant Head of Site or their Team Lead to resolve if required.
  • Support delivery of a high standard of customer service communicating with tact and diplomacy at all times, taking accurate messages and passing them on to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
  • Support the effectiveness of the site support team by identifying and communicating improvement opportunities within own role and tasks and assists with change/improvement projects and activities.
  • Support resilience across the support team by learning new skills and tools.
  • Management of workload to ensure both sites receive appropriate level of service. This may require attendance at one site for extended periods as agreed with the HoSs and Team Lead.


What do I need?


  • Ability to communicate confidently with a range of people
  • Ability to work within procedures with limited supervision and guidance
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications including SharePoint
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of Ariba and the QQ purchasing process
  • Understanding of information classification in accordance with MOD policies and control of off-site movements



  • Demonstrable business administration experience equivalent to NVQ Level 3.
  • Security Clearance to be held and maintained at level appropriate for the role. (Security Cleared).
  • Have an understanding of QinetiQ and HMG general security processes.
