The Role
As an Associate Naval Architect, you will support delivering technical hydrodynamic projects to the MoD. The role requires an understanding of hydrodynamic principles and the ability to use that knowledge, together with sound engineering judgement, to solve our customer’s important problems.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll help deliver consultancy services to the MoD as well as international defence and commercial customers. Hydrodynamic problem solving forms a significant part of this project work and identifying a methodology for solving a client’s issues, mathematically or through model testing.
 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively with customers and colleagues to ensure the customers’ requirements are met and providing innovative solutions to their problems
  • The breakdown of complex tasks and then execution of the planned schedule of work. This will include customer engagement
  • Ensure the work is conducted safely, highlighting hazards and potentially unsafe practices to the Team Lead
  • Actively participate and encourage increased collaboration across the team

 

Essential experience of the Associate Naval Architect: 

  • You should have an understanding of hydrodynamic or aerodynamic principles and the theory behind them
  • You should have experience with coding

This role is 37 hours per week based at Gosport.

 

Our facilities at the Haslar Marine Technology Park are state-of-the-art, including our ocean basin rotating arm, and marine towing tank, offering an unparalleled environment for testing and refining designs. Our marine technology offers our global customers a service to deliver constrained hydrodynamic model tests of surface ships, submarines, offshore structures, and renewable energy devices.
