This role will be based at our Haslar site in Gosport where we make use of state-of-the-art facilities including the Ocean Basin, Ship Tank, Cavitation Tunnel, Diving and Hyperbaric Test Centre and Shock. We also develop and supply the PARAMARINE ship design and SURVIVE software products. Our goal is to support our customers with solutions to their Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Life Support and Software needs through maximising our core work combined with diversifying and growing into adjacent commercial business streams.

 

The Role
As a Programme Manager, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for leading a cross functional team in the delivery of the Maritime Strategic Capabilities Agreement (MSCA), a 10-year £260 million programme that delivers strategic capability to the Submarine Delivery Agency and wider defence. Day-to-day, you will help shape the future of ships and submarines by supporting the delivery team to ensure we are delivering outstanding maritime services globally.

 

You will also be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining positive engagement with customers, partners and suppliers
  • Leading the embedding of improvement in the QinetiQ project and programme management function, as agreed with Integrated Delivery Team (IDT) Leads and the Performance Excellence team
  • Delivery of the programme outcomes, to agreed baseline including customer satisfaction, time, cost, quality and reporting progress on all accountabilities to the Senior Programme Manager or their delegate
  • Resolving conflicts, including prioritisation calls, within the programme and collaborating across QinetiQ
  • Maintaining forecasts that reflect the up-to-date expectations for the work and application of governance requirements, including lifecycle, project & independent reviews as appropriate for foundation sales and delivery work

 

This role is full-time, 37-hours per week, and based at our Haslar (Gosport) site with flexible, hybrid working arrangements. 

 

Essential experience for the Programme Manager:

  • Demonstrable capability to International Project Management Association Level A
  • Experience gained, typically rather than necessarily between 4-6 years of leading a business, projects, programmes, portfolios or P3 function; successful delivery of programmes or complex projects
  • Experienced leading programmes or complex projects to up to 3 different customers.

 

Qualifications for the Programme Manager:

  • Hold a recognised PM qualification (APM Project Management Qualification (PPQ) or higher)
  • Experience in Defence, Maritime or other closely related sectors
