About the Role

 

The Software Systems Engineer position is required to provide technical support to the Engineering Manager and Project Manager and is responsible for software systems engineering activities.

 

As a Software Systems Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and supporting to Mandated System Reviews (MSR)
  • Verifying and Validating (V&V) activities
  • System Safety Working Groups (SSWG)
  • Developing of solutions for technical issues and risks relevant to the Boxer CRV variant.
  • Preparing technical reports, briefs and official project correspondence relevant to areas of responsibility  
  • Progressing engineering changes and managing contracted requirements relevant to areas of responsibility.
  • Managing of boxer integrated transportability solutions for land, sea, air and rail platforms, including technical review of proposed solutions and liaison with relevant stakeholders in Air Force, Navy and Army.

 

To be successful for the role of Software Systems Engineer you will need:

  • Detailed knowledge and proficiency in executing tasks within an Engineering Management framework.
  • Strong understanding and experience with software design life cycle and methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and reviewing technical/engineering artefacts and documentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of software security principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Confidence and self-motivation.

 

Whilst not essential, experience in the following is desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience in Defence Projects, the Defence Capability Life Cycle, and Defence Systems Engineering process.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, operating systems (Windows, Linux and Android), virtualisation technologies and software standards highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience of software development in C4I.
  • Experience in CMT-L beneficial  
  • Experience in DOORS beneficial. 
  • Knowledge of OMG Data Distribution Services.
  • Knowledge and experience in ASDEFCON contract suite, and proficiency in reviewing Contract Deliverable Requirements List (CDRL) documentation.

 

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance. Current security clearance is preferred.
