The Role
As a Ground Clearance Officer, you will be responsible for provision of a consolidate Land Clearance status within the land danger area.
Day-to-day, you’ll support the Trials Manager being responsible for oversight of an efficient, safe, secure and legal operational output in accordance with approved Trials Conduct Documentation. You will also coordinate and verify daily Testing of Land Range Clearance Assets and display equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating Range Safety Team and management of Land Clearance
- Supporting project by facilitating testing and integration for newly introduced or deployed equipment
- Ensuring that the requirements and restrictions detailed in safety procedures are complied with
- Stopping the trial if there are any concerns regarding safety
- Assisting the Trials Manager such that the Trials Delivery complies with H&S, Security and Accreditation standards
- Assisting the Trials Manager with Identification, implementation and refinement of processes and procedures associated with Trials Delivery
Essential experience of the Ground Clearance Officer:
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety, Governance and Security
- Professional attitude with the experience to support customers, both internal and external
- Strength of character to uphold QinetiQ values regardless of the operational pressures
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent spatial awareness
Essential qualifications for the Ground Clearance Officer:
- IT Literate
- Full UK Driving licence
- NEBOSH/IOSH (desirable)
- Marine radio Licence (desirable)

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Hebrides site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. The role be principally based at the Hebrides (South Uist) with some travel expected to other sites.
