The Role
As the Head of Facilities Management, reporting to the Head of Estates Delivery for UK Operations, you'll have a role out of the ordinary. You will oversee both hard and soft service maintenance operations as well as manage their responsibilities across budget, employee engagement, change management, external stakeholders and continuous & future projects; under the LTPA contract.

 

Day-to-day, you will continuously find ways to improve the facilities at Kyle of Lochalsh/Benbecula in addition to the infrastructure; which will ensure site operations can continue efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll define the strategy on all aspects of property service delivery and ensuring compliance is maintained accurately and aligned to the contractual documentation.

 

You will also:

  • Oversee both hard and soft service maintenance operations, including budgeting, scheduling and planning the tasks and also arranging and coordinating with the people who carry out those tasks. Define the site strategy for the delivery of all aspects and ensure compliance is maintained
  • Provide appropriate input and advice to IDT’s, project and trial test readiness reviews, inspections and services for upgrading
  • Management of budgets and other financial aspects including the effective management of cost centre budgets and demand plans, providing accurate forecasting and reporting, collaborating across the business as required, reconciling conflicting demands, reviewing and revising timing of work to agreed deadlines
  • Analyse and aim to discover where there is an opportunity for continuous improvement on site and will be looking to answer questions such as; where can we look to put processes in place to improve? Can we change equipment, process, tasks, planning or employee placement and gain the same results?
  • Foreseeing and planning to avoid potential impact that the property ops activities and may have on the delivery of capability or the sites tenants
  • Dealing with outsourced contracts and contractors – Covering logistical, financial and regulatory aspects whilst building customer satisfaction through effectively sized and empowered operations teams – employee satisfaction elements

 

Look to work toward goals such as:

  • Supporting QinetiQ’s NetZero target – identifying NetZero opportunities at the sites in Kyle of Lochalsh/Benbecula – are we compliant with statutory and mandatory requirements? How can we control sustainability?
  • Defining strategy on all aspects of property services delivery and ensure compliance is maintained accurately and aligned to the contractual documentation

 

This role is full time. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 16:30. Flexible mobility around UK required; there is a requirement and expectation of onsite presence and nights away from home notwithstanding the hybrid model.

 

Essential experience of the Head of Facilities Management:

  • Experience in scheduling, planning and overseeing routine maintenance, hard and soft including lifting and shifting, cleaning and grounds maintenance operations
  • Managing key management figures as well as engineers, operatives and external stakeholders
  • Budgeting and financial management experience
  • Organising, manage and monitor resources, risks and issues as well as conflict management
  • Compliance to regulations experience
  • A change management champion, resilient

 

Qualifications of the Head of Facilities Management:

  • Health & Safety qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH General Certificate)
