DO-178C Software Design Assurance Lead

Role: the DO-178C Software Design Assurance Lead will assess and address shortfalls between engineering life cycle data produced by the software team and what is required to meet the objectives of DO-178C level D and C. They will also provide ongoing consultation to the software team on a number of projects, to minimise these shortfalls at source.



Technical Lead responsible for delivery of software design assurance objectives.

Identify and address shortfalls against DO-178C Level D and C at all life cycle stages. This will involve leading a small team of software engineers in the later stages.

Support the Design Assurance Technical Lead in the delivery of SOI reviews.

Liaise with tool vendors to deliver tool qualification evidence.



DO-178C compliant plans and procedures.

DO-178C compliant engineering life cycle data.

Tool Assessment and Qualification evidence.


Essential skills, knowledge, capabilities etc:

Detailed knowledge of software design assurance to DO-178C/ED-12C, including associated supplements DO-330/ED-215 Software Tool Considerations and DO-332/ED-217 Object Oriented Technology.

Experience of design assurance SOI reviews at levels D and C.

Experience of full software development life cycle (requirements to acceptance) on at least a medium sized project.

Ability to write plans and procedures compliant with the above.

Ability to assess engineering life cycle data against the standards and provide robust but constructive feedback.
