We are currently looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Engineering Services business, based in Melbourne.

 

This role will support QinetiQ’s Engineering and Integration Facility delivery of projects, products and services. The primary focus will be to support the Senior Project Manager to plan, manage and review the projects, concentrating on Time, Cost, Quality, Resource, Communication, Risk, Procurement and Integration Management.

 

As an Assistant Project Manager your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Monitor project actuals, progress and performance and provide inputs to the Project Manager(s) reports where requested;
  • Assist the Project Manager(s)/Project Lead(s) provide project status reports and progress reviews to either client, Program Manager, Program Director or all as required;
  • Maintain registers and file all project purchase orders and invoices;
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans (e.g. safety management, risk management, communications, configuration management, etc), budgets and schedules against configured baselines;
  • Undertake general administration tasks as directed by the Project Manager including raising and maintaining project files, project records and closing projects and contracts;
  • Coordinate with the project team and key stakeholders (both internal and external) to execute project delivery and identify cross functional issues at project level, providing solutions to the Project Manager where applicable;
  • Work closely with the Commercial team and People & Capability team in the planning and execution of commercial, procurement, export compliance, insurance and people requirements, and relationship management.

 

To be successful in the role of Assistant Project Manager you will require:

 

  • Diploma or equivalent in the Project Management discipline; Vocational qualification (Certificate IV) in Project Management (preferably endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management or an International equivalent body), supported by relevant discipline experience (minimum 3 years), supporting projects within a complex environment; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline supported by relevant discipline experience (minimum 3 years), supporting projects within a complex environment;
  • Interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in building and maintaining stakeholder relations;
  • Technical, commercial, industry experience, gained within a Defence environment;
  • Prior experience working within a diverse, matrixed and geographically dispersed team of people across a range of engineering, technical military, logistics and project management disciplines; and
  • Domain experience in defence or defence related industry.

 

Applicants MUST be eligible to obtain an Australian Government security clearance.
