We’re excited to welcome applications from Commercial Consultants for opportunities to work with our customer, the Land Systems Division of the Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) on the LAND 400 program. Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the LAND 400 Program is delivering the next generation of Armoured Vehicles to the Australian Army. These vehicles will replace the current fleets of Australian Light Armoured Vehicles (ASLAV) and M113 Armoured Personnel Carriers that have been in service for decades.

 

The Land Systems Division of CASG is the single point of accountability for both acquisition and through-life-materiel support for designated land systems for the Australian Defence Force, and is responsible for delivery of a diverse range of capabilities to support 'raise, train and sustain' requirements and operational deployments. The LAND 400 program represents another opportunity to work in support of this dynamic organisation.

 

The Commercial Consultant will work on tasking which is integrated with the Department of Defence in relation to acquisition activity. Duties will include, but not limited to:

 

  • Contract administration, management and reporting 
  • Interpreting, appying and advising on the ASDEFCON suite of contract templates, including for the development and evaluation of tender
  • Drafting contract and finance approval documentation
  • Supporting the customer's procurement strategy by undertaking strategic analysis and planning in areas such as Australian Industry Content strategies, MOUs, CCPs
  • Maintaining collaborative relationships with Defence and industry stakeholders
  • Developing and implementing an export control strategy
  • Interpreting, applying and advising on Defence policies and procedures
  • Working in a team of commercial specialists.

 

To be successful in the role, candidates will ideally have:
 

  • A Bachelor Degree in a commercial field, such as business, accounting, law or a related field
  • Strong experience gained in a commercial team, preferably in Defence Industry or a Government Department
  • Experience in the establishment and management of complex contract contracts and procurement concepts
  • A strong working knowledge of Commonwealth Procurement Rules and procurement life cycle
  • Ability to interpret technical teams requests and develop the appropriate documents from this
  • Extensive experience in Defence finance, procurement and reporting software tools and applications
  • Knowledge of international (including ITAR) export control policies and guideline in support of the procurement of specialised material and items
  • Experience with managing budgets and finance in evolving R&D programs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels.

 

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance.
