This is an exciting phase in our history and we are looking for an experienced Electrical Technician, based in Melbourne that will see you working within our Engineering Services division.

As the Electrical Technician, your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to;
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
- Perform electrical diagnostics, point to point checks and fault finding during assembly
- Conduct calibration, maintenance, repair and overhaul of QinetiQ products and assemblies
- Maintain systems, tools & equipment in a safe operating condition
- Connect electrical equipment to power supplies, communications, and power systems as per regulations and safety operation procedure
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
- Ensure compliance with all OHS, electrical procedures, operating instructions and Quality Assurance requirements
- Support QA of material and sub-assemblies (inwards and outwards)
- Provide input into operating and maintenance documentation
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
To be successful in the role of Electrical Technician, you will need demonstrated experience, knowledge & skills in the following areas:
- Trades qualification as A-class electrician (Desirable)
- Previous electrical and assembly experience
- Ability to read and understanding electrical blueprints, schematics, point to point checks and wiring diagrams
- Proven experience in safe maintenance and operation of electrical systems.
- Able to apply a wide breadth of experience and multi-trade knowledge to commissioning/trouble shooting of complex systems
- Be willing to learn and adapt to new and varying products and equipment
- Computer and IT literate proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Superior attention to detail, fast learner, with complex problem solving and analytical skills, with a positive can-do attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous Defence experience advantageous
- Is able to check work of others (peer review) including formal certification of quality checks. (Desirable)
- Can provide advice and guidance to professional engineers and designers, positively influencing designs and projects
