An opportunity to be part of this growth trajectory is the newly created role of Sector Category Lead - Indirects. Applications are now invited from experienced and senior Category Managers for this new role within our Australia Sector.

 

Reporting to the Supply Chain Director our new Sector Category Lead - Indirects role will have leadership responsibility across the Australia Sector (which include business entities in Australia, Canada, Ashford Kent UK and Germany) for managing indirect spend, and also help drive, develop and support key programs related to this strategically important and growing Sector.

The Sector Category Lead - Indirects will be responsible for all aspects of Category Strategy for these strategic and complex purchases. The supply lines and spend cross several categories with diverse specifications, and span multiple business units. The categories represent a significant opportunity for cost reductions, strategy development, and process improvements.

 

In addition to the Category Management responsibilities, this role will have an integral responsibility to be a supply chain and procurement partner to the supporting business Functions, as both a strategic supply chain advisor and expert in supply chain strategy fulfilment.  Working collaboratively with the Sector leadership and other QinetiQ functional team members you will be responsible to:

  • Take ownership and development of Category Management Strategies spanning IT, Facilities, Legal, Finance, Fleet and other allocated categories.
  • Provide advice to stakeholders and execute activities relating to Supply Chain, Procurement and contract strategies, including cost optimisation, supply planning and forecasting, purchasing optimisation and risks.
  • Provide expertise in the supplier market across supply lines under management with the aim of improving competitive advantage and product/service offering.
  • Work closely with other Supply Chain functions, including New Business Supply Chain, Trade Controls, and other Category Managers.
  • Deliver the Australia Sector supply chain roadmap to ensure the alignment of Functions to the wider QinetiQ Group Supply Chain processes, tools, systems and policy (including Governance, risk management, group requirements, performance reporting etc
  • In collaboration with other departments (such as Finance, Security, Trade Controls, quality assurance and Group Supply Chain), identify and qualify new suppliers and manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing.
  • Lead and deliver procurement activities, which secure the goods, works and services that most appropriately identify the addressed needs of our customers and users whilst ensuring value for money, compliance and generating efficiencies

 

As an ideal applicant for this senior role, you will need:

  • Extensive leadership experience with a strong knowledge of Supply Chain, Category Management principles and deep knowledge of procurement models as it relates to multi-country and diverse business offerings.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding of end-to-end supply chain management, procurement strategies, contract management and supplier engagement.
  • Demonstrated complex stakeholder management (internal and external) and influencing skills
  • The ability to integrate and collaborate across multiple geographical locations, time zones and cultures
  • An outcomes focused approach to capability development and uplift through ongoing continuous improvement, coaching and mentoring

 

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance or UK equivalent. With regards to location, we are flexible to consider applicants from locations where a main QinetiQ office is based e.g. Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra or Adelaide Australia.
