The Role
As an Instrumentation Technician, you'll play a vital role in supporting defence trials by collecting the data that helps our customers understand how equipment and systems perform in real-world environments.

Day-to-day, you'll work as part of a skilled instrumentation team, preparing, operating and maintaining a range of specialist equipment including high-speed cameras, thermal imaging systems, pressure measurement equipment and other data gathering technologies. You'll support live trials activities, gather and collate data, and ensure all work is conducted safely, securely and in accordance with quality procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, deploying and operating instrumentation and data gathering equipment during trials
  • Supporting the collection, validation and collation of trial data for customer reporting
  • Maintaining instrumentation equipment in accordance with work instructions, manufacturer guidance and quality standards
  • Troubleshooting and fault-finding equipment issues to ensure successful data capture
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver safe and effective trial activities
  • Adhering to all safety, quality and security requirements throughout trial operations

 

Essential experience of the Instrumentation Technician

  • Practical hands-on technical or engineering experience
  • Strong computer literacy and confidence working with data and software systems
  • Ability to learn new equipment, systems and technologies quickly
  • Experience of problem solving and fault finding in a technical environment
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to following procedures and safety standards

 

Essential qualifications for the Instrumentation Technician:

  • Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent qualification in an engineering, technical or skilled trade discipline, or relevant transferable experience
  • Full UK Driving Licence

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Eskmeals site on a full-time bases. Working hours are 07:30 to 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 07:30 to 12:30 on Friday.
