Headquartered in Nowra, New South Wales, QinetiQ Air Affairs, part of QinetiQ’s Threat Representation business unit, provides targets and training services, and electronic warfare capabilities to the Australian Defence Force, in addition to aerial surveillance and reconnaissance in support of government firefighting efforts. Air Affairs owns and operates a fleet of special mission aircraft and maintains an advanced manufacturing and engineering facility providing design, manufacture and certification operations. 

 

With a strong commitment to quality, safety and compliance, we are seeking a highly experienced Aviation, Quality Manager to join our leadership team based at our QinetiQ Air Affairs site. Our business holds both DASA (Defence Aviation Safety Authority) and CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) approvals as our capabilities cross both general and defence aviation.

 

Your experience in defence aviation will be critical to your success in this role, which will see you lead the quality function, ensuring the compliance of our Quality Management System. You will be pivotal in embedding robust quality activities, policies and procedures across the organisation, which will drive continuous improvement.

 

You will also have lead auditor experience, which coupled with your excellent communication skills, will ensure you can bring your stakeholders along on the quality management journey.

 

Day to day you will be:

 

  • Liaising with stakeholder groups to ensure ongoing Quality Management System compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Developing and implement business continuing planning.
  • Implementing risk management processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
  • Maintaining Quality Systems in line with CASA CAR 30, DASA Part 145, and CASA 21.133(2B).
  • Preparing for and facilitate external audits.
  • Providing updates to the leadership team on outstanding items and quality management improvement projects.
  • Supporting a safety conscious culture and ensuring adherence to both internal and external safety standards.

 

Essential to your success in this role is:

 

  • Experience with defence aviation, especially working with DASA regulations.
  • Lead Auditor Experience and Qualifications within an Aviation environment.
  • Ability to hold a DASR Form 4, ideally you will hold this or will have previously held it.
  • A minimum of a Diploma of Auditing.
  • A deep understanding of ISO 9001:2015, ideally within an aviation environment.
  • Eligibility to hold a minimum of a Baseline, Defence Security Clearance.

 

Candidates will need to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
