Headquartered in Nowra, New South Wales, Air Affairs provides targets and training services, and electronic warfare capabilities to the Australian Defence Force, in addition to aerial surveillance and reconnaissance in support of government firefighting efforts. Air Affairs owns and operates a fleet of special mission aircraft and maintains an advanced manufacturing and engineering facility providing design, manufacture and certification operations.
We currently have a number of opportunities for suitably qualified King Air Captains to join our Special Missions teams which includes Bushfire and flood-mapping, medivac and charter operations based in Essendon (VIC) and Jandakot (WA).

As a King Air pilot you will be responsible for deploying the aircraft and an infrared line scanner operator into an operational environment searching for and mapping fire and flood areas, as well as completing medivac and charter operations.
Liaising with government agencies and emergency services you will be responsible for ensuring the aircraft completes its required tasks. We currently operate a specially modified King Air B200 aircraft out of our Essendon base to conduct wide area bushfire surveillance and multispectral imaging across Victoria and South Australia.
As the King Air Pilot your day to day role will see you;
- Be available for on call (short notice 1 – 2 hrs) deployment
- Pilot the King Air in support of Aerial Survey Mapping
- Respond to requests of your scanning operator and on-ground support services
- Collaborate with your team to plan and deliver the mission
- Travel to country areas that may include overnight stays (country Victoria / South Australia/WA )
What you will bring;
- A minimum of 1500 PIC.
- Experience in turbine powered pressurised aircraft such as a King Air (B200, B300, B350), Cessna Conquest, Cessna Caravan, Pilatus PC-12, Let L-410, Dash-8, Fokker 50.
- A current CPL
- A current class 1 medical
- Excellent communication skills

- A willingness to work on call at short notice

- Experience of aerial survey projects in potentially challenging terrain
