The Role
As an Asset Controller, you will be responsible for the effective management, control, and governance of company assets and Ministry of Defence (MoD) Government Furnished Equipment (GFE). The role ensures full accountability, compliance, and asset integrity through robust system administration, meticulous record keeping, proactive stakeholder engagement, and adherence to company and regulatory requirements.
Day-to-day, you’ll also support operational activities to ensure assets remain serviceable, available, and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage and maintain accountability of company and MoD assets using AMP, SAP, Oracle, and other approved asset management systems
- Provide system support, user training, and ensure data integrity across asset management processes and records
- Coordinate equipment calibration activities, maintaining compliance, operational readiness, and controlled documentation
- Oversee asset logistics and movements, ensuring accurate records and compliance with freight, customs, and regulatory requirements
- Support stores operations, including inventory management, deliveries, collections, and equipment disposal in line with governance procedures
- Liaise with stakeholders, customers, and project teams to manage asset updates, resolve queries, support audits, and deliver project-related activities
Essential experience of the Asset Controller:
- Proven experience in stores, logistics, and asset management environments involving technical and controlled assets
- Strong knowledge of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), ITAR-controlled assets, and MoD logistics frameworks
- Experience managing domestic and international shipping, freight operations, and customs compliance requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and asset management systems such as SAP, Oracle, AMP, or equivalent platforms
- Customer-focused professional with experience delivering high levels of service and stakeholder support
- Sound understanding of inventory management, regulatory compliance, and trade control processes

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Portsmouth site. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.
