The Role
As a Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of multiple projects within QinetiQ’s Maritime business, supporting the development and enhancement of critical capabilities for the Royal Navy, MOD, and allied NATO nations. Working at the forefront of defence innovation, you will help bring new technologies into service and improve existing operational capabilities.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll collaborate closely with technical teams, MOD stakeholders, and industry partners to manage projects across the full lifecycle. From planning and governance to risk management and delivery, you will drive progress in a dynamic environment, balancing multiple priorities while ensuring successful outcomes for customers and end users.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers while promoting a culture aligned to QinetiQ values
  • Deliver projects against agreed objectives for customer satisfaction, time, cost, quality, revenue, and cash performance
  • Ensure safe, secure, and compliant project delivery, applying appropriate governance, lifecycle, and review processes
  • Lead and support project teams, managing performance, objectives, resource demand, and resolving conflicts or prioritisation challenges
  • Maintain accurate financial, resource, sales, and delivery forecasts, ensuring reporting reflects current project expectations
  • Manage project and opportunity data within SAP CRM, ensuring records, pipeline status, revenue forecasts, and key metrics remain accurate and up to date

 

Essential experience of the Project Manager: 

  • Proven experience leading and successfully delivering projects, programmes, portfolios, or business initiatives within a complex environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and align teams towards shared objectives
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience building effective relationships across customers, partners, and internal teams
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities, enabling successful management of competing priorities and stakeholder expectations
  • Experience contributing to business development activities, including supporting bids, proposals, delivery planning, risk management, and costing activities
  • Collaborative team player with a high level of integrity, capable of fostering inclusive, high-performing teams and driving successful outcomes

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Portsmouth site

 

Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.
