Senior Comms Integration Engineer

Key responsibility:

Provide subject matter expertise to support the technical delivery of secure end-to-end radio solutions in a multi-bearer, mobile environment from design to delivery and transition to service. 

 

Technical Responsibilities:

Design reviews, by taking existing design documents and reading across to system requirements in order to validate the design and produce appropriate test documentation. 
Independently create and run test plans and schedules.  Contribute to test strategy decisions
Working with other parts of QinetiQ and customer or subcontractors to integrate technology into wider systems.
Able to ensure documentation produced is clear and concise and appropriate to the project and/or the recipient.
Able to identify and resolve technical issues by using in-depth knowledge communication principles.
Provide mentorship to team members to share knowledge on latest technical developments and design.

 

Technical Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject with minimum of 20 years of experience in the Communications Industry.
  • Knowledge of systems utilising the full frequency spectrum. 
  • Knowledge of military comms including legacy in-service systems and proposed future technologies. 
  • Experience of requirements capture, integrations planning and testing.
  • Understand the operation and integration of equipment in the Communications, Development & Integration Facility (CDIF).
  • In depth knowledge of commercial telecommunications technology i.e. microwave, Wifi, 4G LTE.

 

Customer:

  • Should have an understanding of the military and MoD environment, desirable to have experience of both the advice and supply side.  This will include a technical understanding of the systems deployed and the types of information being transferred over the networks.
  • Deliver demonstrations and presentation on technical subjects to senior MoD and Industry Partners.
  • Able to articulate conclusions and recommendations in a manner suitable for the varying levels of customer.
  • To represent the company at customer and supplier premises

 

Leadership:

  • Able to leads teams or work collaboratively within a team to ensure solutions are integrated successfully.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and governance is in place in accordance with the QinetiQ Lifecycle.
  • Technically lead projects and be accountable for their technical success. 
  • Able to propose solutions and influence senior members of staff in own discipline and business groups.

 

Personal Skills:

  • Self-motivated with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to convey complex information to non-specialist audiences.
  • Be organised and have good time and personal management.
  • Tenacity and drive to ensure technical aspects of projects are successfully delivered or reversionary planning is in place.

 

Other:

  • Willingness to travel within the UK and potentially overseas.
