About the role:

We are currently recruiting a Project Engineer to join QinetiQ at our Environmental Test Centre (ETC) at MoD Shoeburyness. The ETC is one the UK’s largest test facilities for munitions. We use a variety of test equipment including vibration, shock & climatic facilities to simulate some of the most challenging environments that the munitions will need to withstand, ensuring that the systems are safe and suitable for service.

 

You would join our Planning Department, reporting to the Operations Team Lead. This role involves both the planning and engineering activities required for delivering environmental testing projects.

 

We can also provide the opportunity to obtain further qualifications such as IOSH safety certification and many more to support your continued learning and development.

 

What will I be doing?

Once fully trained you will:

 

  • Prepare, schedule and co-ordinate technical projects.
  • Develop project specific risk assessments, safety briefs and transport plans.
  • Interpret customer requirements and ensure adherence to them by creating a technical instruction for a team of engineers to deliver against.
  • Manage the design and manufacture of rigs required for the project of work.
  • Identifying potential problems with assigned projects, leading a team into developing solutions and ensuring they’re implemented.
  • Take responsibility for the tasking of a team of engineers, informing them of their daily activities.

 

What do I need?

  • Experience of working within an Engineering environment.
  • HNC or equivalent qualification is desirable but we can consider an equivalent level gained through experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels, both internal and external to QinetiQ, including customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • IT competent
  • Committed, driven and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Must have drivers licence and own vehicle
