Software Engineer

This is an exciting phase in our history and we are looking for a Software Engineer to join us as we embark on our next phase of growth.


You will be joining our Integrated Engineering Services team in Sydney and will be embedded in our customers’ team, to assist with research and trials.

This is a new position and is a great opportunity for someone with 2+ years of experience who wants to accelerate their career in Defence. As part of this role and the growth opportunities, you will attain Engineering Authority under our current Engineering Management System.


The successful applicant will join a team of technical experts who are delivering complex engineering tasks as part of both whole and parts of projects.


Please note, we encourage applications from Mechatronic and Electronic Engineers who are looking to transition to Software. 


As Software Engineer, your responsibilities will involve:

  • Using existing solutions to solve complex problems
  • Shaping, describing and delivering whole or parts of Defence projects 
  • Building strong relationships with the client, other external stakeholders and QinetiQ team members
  • Advising the client on project scope, methods, complexity and risks
  • Programming with Python, C and C++
  • Working in a Linux environment and developing shell scripts


To be successful in the role of Software Engineer, you will need to bring with you:

  • A degree in Engineering (i.e. Software, Electrical, Electronics)
  • 2+ years of industry experience
  • The ability to work independently and autonomously
  • A high level of credibility, integrity and personal ethical standards
  • A proactive, confident and competent approach to work


Candidates will need to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
