The Role
As a TL Principal Engineer – Flight Physics, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will be the Team Leader Flight Physics of helicopters leading and managing a team of engineer that conduct Flight Physics support and advice on specific Helicopters test and evaluation tasks.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead aspects of the Flight Physics Specialist Team to meet current and future business needs in support of the UK MoD.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the Flight Physics Team are delivering in their role with competence for current and future tasks
- Delivering Flight Physics specialist technical advice to meet the business requirements
- Utilising team skills, technical processes, and methods/tools to deliver the business
- Providing Flight Physics specialist technical support working within a Helicopters specialist team
- Ensuring the quality of technical outputs from the specialist area and promoting continuous improvements
- Working as part of an integrated delivery stream and supporting the specialist interface with other parts of QinetiQ
Essential experience of the TL Principal Engineer – Flight Physics:
- Previous experience of leading and managing a team of Flight Physics professionals
- Technical experience throughout the air vehicle life cycle
- Proven experience making sound technical judgements in the Flight Physics specialist area
- Extensive experience in Flight Physics Delivery with the ability to see continuous growth in the business area
- Previous experience technically leading in an Aerospace organisation
- Experience interfacing with customers within an Aerospace organisation
Essential qualifications for the Survival Equipment Technician:
- A recognised Aerospace qualification such as an HNC, Engineering Degree or equivalent experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at MOD Boscombe Down. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected – both nationally and overseas.
MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.
