The Role
As an Infrastructure Engineer you will join a team that supports QinetiQ and customers providing server/virtualisation support and technical direction within maritime projects and programmes.
Day-to-day, you will be investigating and resolving technical issues, supporting multiple projects across different layers of the IT infrastructure and ensuring the secure transfer of Data for QinetiQ and its customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Technically leading small projects or parts of larger projects through managing a small technical team to deliver solutions
- Delivering to time and budget whilst being responsible for identifying problems, providing pragmatic solutions
- Delivering technical documentation, test plans and reports, user guides and work instructions, design or process documents, hardware of software builds and system installation or integration
- Providing mentoring support to junior colleagues
- Undertaking the delivery of standard tasking independently and undertaking tasks of increasing complexity
Essential experience of the Infrastructure Engineer:
- Previous experience working as a 3rd line infrastructure engineer with hands-on experience of servers/virtualisation
- Proven experience of working in a broad and comprehensive range of concepts and principles within the areas of Networking & IT
- A good understanding of IT infrastructure with a specialisation or interest in security IT principles
- Previous experience with backup solutions such as Veeam
- The ability to use VMware, Windows Server, Backup solutions and documentation suites
- Previous experience working in a team-oriented environment with the ability to self-initiate work and self-manage
Essential qualifications for the Infrastructure Engineer:
- A first degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent relevant experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site. Hybrid working patterns are available. There will be requirement to travel to other sites with this role.
