Deputy Chief Engineer – Electrical (LV & ELV)
QinetiQ is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer (Electrical) with proven expertise in Low Voltage (LV) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) design to help develop and sustain a world-class engineering capability. You’ll lead technical assurance, mentor the next generation of engineers, and ensure our products and solutions meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer value.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide technical leadership and assurance in electrical engineering, with a focus on LV/ELV design and product development.
- Review, approve, and certify designs in accordance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and certification requirements.
- Mentor and develop engineers, guiding them on design standards, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
- Contribute to the management and continuous improvement of the Technical Management System (TMS) and Quality Management System (QMS).
- Oversee projects involving PLC and FPGA-controlled systems, LV control systems, and equipment operation.
What you’ll bring
- Degree-qualified in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar, with the ability to achieve Chartered Engineer status and local registration.
- Significant experience in LV/ELV design and product development.
- Strong technical leadership skills, with prior experience in people management and mentoring.
- Knowledge of control systems, including PLCs and FPGAs, and experience in certification review.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ideally you will be based in Melbourne, with experience across industries, which may include, rail, utitlities, mining, defence, aviation or aerospace. Knowledge or expereince in avionics systems would be an advantage but not essential.
Candidates will need to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
