We are currently accepting expressions of interest for a FIC Officer to join our team based in Canberra.
The FIC Officer supports the planning, integration and assurance of Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC) across the program, ensuring that capability outcomes are coherent, sustainable and aligned with Defence intent. The role contributes to the coordination of FIC elements across the capability lifecycle, supporting informed decision-making and effective integration of people, systems, processes and industry inputs required to sustain capability.
The FIC Officer will be accountable for:

The role maintains flexibility to contribute across a range of capability support functions as program priorities evolve.

This includes supporting the review and assurance of engineering submissions, technical data packages and Engineering Management System (EMS) inputs, contributing to configuration control activities, and identifying when additional industry engagement, clarification or technical revision is required. Through these activities, the FIC Officer helps ensure technical integration supports safe, certifiable and sustainable in‑service outcomes.
- Supporting the technical development and management of Munitions Contracts and other engineering‑related contracts, ensuring ongoing fitness for purpose from a technical perspective
- Contributing to the definition; reviewing and acceptance of technical data, ensuring contractual technical deliverables meet engineering, configuration and regulatory requirements.
- Managing and coordinating below‑the‑line engineering activities, including assessment of Engineering Management System (EMS) inputs
- Identifying when OEM or third‑party engineering revisions are required and supporting technical evaluation and recommendation processes.
- Providing Change Control Board (CCB) administration and coordination support to the CENG, including preparation of papers, tracking of actions and documentation of decisions.
- Maintaining accurate records of technical changes, engineering decisions and supporting artefacts
- Providing technical analysis and support to inform engineering governance, risk assessments and assurance activities.
As a suitably experienced and well- rounded engineering and contract support professional, the FIC Officer will have:
- A degree in Engineering (mechanical, systems, aerospace or electrical) or a related technical field such as science or defence capability
- Significant relevant experience in defence engineering, technical project support or capability integration
- Experience in or working alongside CASG, Army, DOD or sustainment programs
- An understanding of Capability Lifecycle and how different inputs (people, training, logistics etc.) must align
- Exposure to capability planning or integration
- An understanding of how workforce, training systems, facilities, logistics/sustainment and industry support fit together.
- Experience in supporting engineering activities such as reviewing technical data packages and engineering documentation
- Previous experience working Engineering Management Systems (EMS) and Configuration Control processes
- Ability to support technical aspects of contracts and an understanding of ‘fitness for purpose’ in a contractual sense
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must hold an Australian Defence security clearance. NV1 preferrable.
