The Role
As an Associate Additive Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting projects that bring advanced manufacturing to life. Your work will help ensure that our additive manufacturing capability continues to deliver safe, reliable and innovative solutions for defence and aerospace customers. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with senior engineers and project leads to support the delivery of technical programmes, gain hands-on experience with additive manufacturing technologies, and contribute directly to customer solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting technical programmes in additive manufacturing projects
- Planning, carrying out and reporting on trials and technical activities
- Assisting with qualification and certification of additive manufactured parts
- Working with senior engineers to integrate AM into the lifecycle of materials and devices
- Producing high-quality documentation including reports and proposals
- Directly engaging with customers and colleagues to support project delivery
Essential experience of the Associate Additive Manufacturing Engineer:
- Good understanding of materials science or engineering
- Hands-on or academic exposure to additive manufacturing processes (metal-based preferred)
- Familiarity with mechanical testing and validation methods
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel to customer sites when required
Essential qualifications for the Associate Additive Manufacturing Engineer:
- A first degree in Science or Engineering OR
- Equivalent experience (typically 4+ years in relevant roles)
- Full UK driving licence

This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
