The RF & Electronic Engineering Physical Sciences team and Electrical & Mechanical Engineering teams comprise of 100 multi-discipline engineers and scientists who work across a wide range of complex projects ranging from land, maritime, air and OpTech technologies for a variety of customers.
 

The Role
As a Electrical and Electronics Test Engineer, reporting to the RF, Test and Evaluation Team Lead, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. Your overall focus will be on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) test and evaluation.

 

Day-to-day, you will undertake a variety of tasks within the engineering lifecycle to ensure that technical solutions meet business and customer requirements. We can offer a mixture of professional and on-the-job training in this role to help develop your skills and experience and have the opportunity to grow into a fully-fledged EMC/Electronics Engineer within QinetiQ.

 

You will also:

  • Have extensive involvement in programs of work including the development of EMC test plans
  • Set up customer equipment prior to testing and throughout testing phase and deliver detailed test reports
  • Use a variety of test equipment, including digital oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analysers, receivers, antennas and amplifiers regularly
  • Have the opportunity to work away at customer sites in the UK and overseas on an occasional basis for up to 2-3 weeks consecutively


This role is full-time, 37 hours per week at our Farnborough site, with hybrid working available.

 

Essential experience of the Electrical and Electronics Test Engineer:

  • Electronics Engineering for both analogue and digital
  • EMC experience across design, test and fault finding
  • Hands-on design, implementation and test experience through project work
  • A strong interest and/or experience of Radio Frequency (RF) design and testing


Qualifications of the Electrical and Electronics Test Engineer:

  • Apprenticeship at NVQ level 3 and/or an HNC/D in an electrical/electronics discipline
