The Role
As a FinOps Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in enabling financial accountability and operational efficiency across the Group CIO area, with a particular focus on cloud, infrastructure and SAAS spend.

 

Operating within the global IT environment, you’ll provide data-driven insights and financial modelling that support decision-making at all levels—from day-to-day operations to long-term strategic planning. You will ensure that financial and usage data is accurate, accessible, and actionable, helping stakeholders understand cost drivers, forecast spend, and identify opportunities for optimisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Delivery: Tracks actual vs. forecasted spend and supports business case development through financial modelling to ensure alignment with strategic financial goals
  • Internal Controls: Ensures data accuracy in financial systems, supports compliance reporting, and contributes to audit readiness by maintaining robust financial records
  • Service Performance and Performance Measurement: Monitors cost-related KPIs, identifies trends and anomalies in IT spend, and provides insights to improve service efficiency as well as building dashboards and reports to visualise financial performance and efficiency metrics, enabling informed decision-making
  • Quality Leadership: Maintains high standards in data integrity and reporting accuracy, contributing to a culture of excellence in financial operations
  • Strategic Engagement: Provides data-driven insights to support strategic discussions and investment decisions, ensuring financial considerations are embedded in planning
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Collaborates with finance, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure a shared understanding of cost drivers and optimisation opportunities

 

Essential experience of the FinOps Specialist: 

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar tools
  • Understanding of cloud billing models (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Knowledge of FinOps principles and frameworks with an ability to interpret financial data and translate it into actionable insights and familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills and experience working with cross-functional teams (IT, Finance, Procurement) with an ability to influence at senior levels and represent PMO in strategic forums
  • Proficient in managing Opex and Capex budgets
  • Expertise in managing complex portfolios and programmes across multiple business units and expertise in managing complex portfolios and programmes across multiple business units

 

Essential qualifications for the FinOps Specialist:

  • Project Management qualification to at least Association for Project Management PMQ equivalent level

This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Hybrid working patterns are available.
