The Role
QinetiQ are currently seeking an experienced Production Engineer to help support and develop their manufacturing capabilities.

 

Your role will involve developing and implementing production processes, troubleshooting production issues and overseeing the maintenance of production equipment. You will also analyse production data to identify areas for improvement and ensure that production deadlines are met. Overall, you will play a critical role in enhancing production efficiency, quality and safety. Additional responsibilities include the ownership of NPI transfer activities, including various sub-modules and associated test regimes, and taking overall ownership of the Value Stream of that assembly.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • As a Production Engineer, you will be tasked with defining the infrastructure for Production cells and workspaces
  • Overseeing and capturing the production process, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining quality standards
  • Utilisation of Lean6Sigma, TIM WOODS and Lean methodology
  • Developing new and existing manufacturing control plans and production systems and defining quality control standards and monitoring production KPIs.
  • Risk analysis through Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and implementing total productive maintenance policies and procedures
  • Creating, documenting and implementing production plans and best practice and root cause analysis and rapid problem solving using (5 whys, Fishbone and 8D)

 

Essential experience of the Production Engineer

  • Strong experience as a Production Engineer, with a significant understanding of the fundamental principles and strategies for product manufacturing and assembly, exhibiting the following abilities
  • Good Understanding of health & safety regulations and quality standards and familiarity with ISO9001, with reference to clean room environments
  • Experience in bringing a product from concept through to the commercial market and experience in optimising the manufacturing process
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and an ability to proactively address atypical / asymmetric problems
  • Knowledge of Lean and 6-sigma manufacturing principles would be beneficial
  • Proficient in MS Office, ERP software, and MES Systems

 

 

Essential qualifications for the Production Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering or related field
  • Advanced degrees or professional certifications in fields relating to Production Engineering, manufacturing process optimisation and project management would be advantageous
  • Or equivalent level and depth of experience and training

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site.
