The Role
As a member of the Estates Delivery discipline within UK Defence Operations, the Building Services Engineer role will be bias to an electrical specialisation but will be expected to deliver both Electrical & Mechanical aspects of building services, undertaking pre-preventive maintenance, repair, and reactive tasks.

 

Day-to-day, you will provide maintenance support (including installations; planned, preventive & corrective maintenance) in relation to site services, plant / equipment & buildings.

 
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide estate and equipment maintenance support across the two sites, mainly focussed on electrical elements but also across other areas and disciplines
  • Prioritisation of work programme to satisfy business needs according to need
  • Form part of the on-call rota within the Maintenance Team
  • Ensure robust application of health, safety & environmental procedures & processes
  • Ensure maintenance standards and quality of work delivered are to the required level
  • Oversee the conduct of contractors on site; monitoring the implementation & performance of tasks allocated, including SLA dependencies

 

Essential experience of the Building Services Engineer: 

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Engineer
  • Proficient in fault finding and diagnostic abilities on components
  • Experience in planned maintenance to SFG20 standards
  • Demonstrable skills in dealing and working closely with internal and external customers and suppliers on complex and interrelated issues on an ongoing basis
  • Must be able to demonstrate a full and thorough understanding of operational health & safety and safe working practises
  • Understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), service targets, objectives, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

 

Essential qualifications for the Building Services Engineer:

  • The ideal candidate will be time served and have the relevant C&G, BTEC level 3, ONC/OND or NVQ level 3 within electrical discipline
  • Full & clean (UK) valid driving license

This role is 37 hours per week based at the Kyle of Lochalsh and Applecross sites

  • Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected

BUTEC (British Underwater Test & Evaluation Centre) is a specialised facility focused on underwater testing and evaluation. It supports the development and assessment of various maritime systems including submarines and autonomous underwater vehicles. Working towards the advancement of underwater technology including innovations in sonar, navigation, and communication systems in real-world scenarios.
