The Role

As a Countermeasures Subject Matter Expert, you will play a key role in supporting the establishment of the Belgian Joint Electronic Warfare Support Centre (JEWSC), helping to deliver sovereign Countermeasure and Counter-Uncrewed Air Systems (C-UAS) capabilities for the Belgium MOD. You will provide specialist technical expertise in the development, optimisation, testing and validation of defensive countermeasure capabilities within Programme Esmeralda, ensuring solutions remain effective against current and emerging threats.

Day-to-day, you'll work alongside Countermeasure and C-UAS specialists, Operational Analysts, Intelligence Analysts, Test & Evaluation Engineers and Mission Data practitioners to assess threats, optimise capability performance and support the development of enduring sovereign expertise within the JEWSC.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing specialist expertise in Countermeasures, Electronic Warfare and Defensive Aids Systems (DAS)

• Conducting threat assessments, vulnerability analyses and capability studies relating to electromagnetic threats and countermeasure effectiveness

• Supporting the development, optimisation and validation of Mission Data associated with countermeasure systems

• Supporting the specification, development and operation of representative test, evaluation and experimentation environments

• Analysing test data and producing technical recommendations to improve capability effectiveness and operational performance

• Mentoring Belgium MOD personnel and supporting knowledge transfer activities to develop sovereign capability

Essential experience of the Countermeasures Subject Matter Expert:

• Demonstrable experience in the development, optimisation, testing, assurance or operational employment of defensive Countermeasures

• Strong knowledge of Electronic Warfare, RF technologies, Intelligence and Mission Data principles

• Experience conducting threat assessments, vulnerability analysis and capability evaluation activities

• Experience supporting test and evaluation activities within simulated, laboratory or operational environments

• Experience with Defensive Aids Systems (DAS) development or support

• Experience with Countermeasure reprogramming and Mission Data production

• Knowledge of NATO EW standards and interoperability

Essential qualifications for the Countermeasures Subject Matter Expert:

• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant Engineering, Science, Electronic Warfare or technical discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience

• Minimum of 5 years' relevant technical experience in the development, optimisation, testing and validation of defensive Countermeasures

This role is primarily based at our Belgium office. Regular collaboration with Belgium MOD, UK MOD and industry partners will be required. Frequent travel between UK and Belgium customer sites will be required. Candidates should be willing to relocate to Belgium or undertake a regular weekly commute.
