QinetiQ Target Systems Canada is seeking a hands-on, adaptable Field Operations – UVS Operator to support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of Uncrewed Vehicle Systems (UVS) across global defence and training environments. This is a travel-intensive role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes settings and is passionate about cutting-edge technology.

What You’ll Do
- Operate a multitude of UVS systems via different control stations and controllers
- Assemble, test, and perform first-line repair of UVS (aerial, surface, ground, and control systems)
- Plan and execute field operations, including launcher setup and equipment logistics
- Carry out mission planning inline with customer requirements
- Maintain and configure Ground Support Equipment
- Assist launcher site operations and ensure safe aerial target launches
- Deliver practical and theoretical training using company material
- Oversee safe refueling, payload preparation, and pyrotechnic handling
- Conduct pre-post operational checks, engine tuning, and system maintenance
- Retrieve UVS from recovery areas and carryout parachute packing
- Supervise logistical loadouts of operational equipment
- Operate in diverse environments, including military housing and onboard ships
- Travel globally for deployments, including extended durations and short-notice assignments
What You Bring
- Technical or mechanical background (air/hydraulic systems a plus)
- Drone Pilot Certificate – Advanced Operations/Flight review
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work autonomously in dynamic, high-pressure environments
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in varied weather and environmental conditions
Desirable Assets
- Knowledge of uncrewed systems (aerial, surface, ground, control stations)
- Background in IT, electronics, or computer systems
- Experience operating in military or maritime environments
Security & Safety Requirements
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident with 5+ years consecutive residency
- Eligible for NATO Secret Clearance
- Valid passport and clean criminal record
- Valid driver’s license and clean abstract; ability to obtain rental vehicles
- Class IV Medical Certification (Self-Declaration)
- RPAS Operator Certification (or equivalent)
- Immunizations required for deployment countries
- Physically and medically fit for extended deployments at sea or on land
- Ability to lift maximum of 50 lbs (22.86kg)
