Based in Melbourne or Adelaide, we are excited to invite applications from experienced Products Management professionals who will be accountable for ensuring the technical performance of existing and future QinetiQ Products within agreed budgets for the Australia’s Sector’s Mission Support and R&D business unit.

 

Reporting to the General Manager, Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) and R&D you will ensure that effective technical and programmatic governance, budget controls, value drivers and reporting are in place to deliver effective product development and sustainment.  

 

The opportunity

 

As Products Manager, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

 

  • Oversight to the various Product teams that are developing or sustaining QinetiQ’s products sold or managed through the Australian business
  • Product, financial and supply chain activity across all QinetiQ’s products that are in service or being developed as part of approved internal development activities.
  • Collaboration with QinetiQ’s AustraliaSales Team,, PMO Lead and Chief Engineer to ensure that governance, budget risk management practices and reporting are activated
  • Interfacing with the QinetiQ Finance, Supply Chain and Trade Controls function leads to ensure alignment with corporate policy and complies with any applicable trade controls
  • Overseeing the development of product portfolio budget and performance metrics against budget and supporting the overall business revenue growth
  • Working with the Australia Sector Chief Engineer, Sales Team and the General Manager Aviation Operations to lead the establishment of best practice product development practices, business case proposals, product support capability and profitable product baselines to best meet current and future customer requirements
  • Leading the Products Management team to work safely in both our own and customer’s sites ensuring employees feel safe to intervene if safety is compromised
  • Leading Defence security practices relating to the projects and programs being delivered by the Products Team
  • Managing a diverse team who are geographically dispersed within multiple time zones
  • Aligning the team to a unified purpose, enabling clarity of focus, consistent decision making, high performance and ensuring the organisation is equipped for execution

 

To be successful in the position of Products Manager you will need to bring with you:

 

  • A Bachelor of Engineering
  • Product Management and/or Development Qualifications
  • Significant knowledge of the Defence customer and the Defence procurement process
  • Substantial domain knowledge of project management and product management principles
  • Strong understanding of budget development, management and control
  • Ability to work independently to identify, triage and resolve operational challenges within defined authority
  • Ability to adjust delivery pace to meet business needs
  • Proficiency in identifying and mitigating supply chain, regulatory, legal and commercial risks at an operational level
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Superior communication and leadership skills

 

 

Knowledge and understanding of Defence Aviation Safety Regulations and Technical Airworthiness will be highly regarded.

 

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must hold an Australian Defence security clearance, NV1 minimum or have the ability to obtain one.
