The Role
As an Automation Test Engineer, you will play a key role in assuring the performance, reliability and readiness of critical Defence IT infrastructure. Working within a highly technical test team, you'll develop automated testing capabilities that ensure complex systems are deployed and integrated correctly before entering operational service.

 

Day-to-day, you'll design and develop Python-based automated test frameworks, execute system and integration testing activities, work closely with engineering teams to create new automated test solutions, and provide evidence-based assurance to the customer.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining automated test frameworks using Python
  • Converting manual test activities into efficient automated test scripts
  • Supporting system integration, functional and regression testing activities
  • Producing test plans, test reports, defect documentation and evidence packs
  • Working closely with engineering teams to validate infrastructure deployments
  • Presenting test results, findings and recommendations to project stakeholders

 

Essential experience of the Automation Test Engineer: 

  • Significant experience developing automated testing solutions using Python
  • Experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks
  • Experience with BDD methodologies and Gherkin-based test development
  • Knowledge of scripting technologies including PowerShell and Bash
  • Experience using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
  • Experience working within secure, regulated or mission-critical environments

 

Essential qualifications for the Automation Test Engineer:

  • Demonstrable professional experience in Automation Testing, Integration Testing or Systems Testing
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC)
  • Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent industry experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Corsham site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. As a QinetiQ employee you’ll have a registered home site location as Bristol or Portsmouth.
