The Role
As a Senior Project Manager you will contribute to the successful delivery of the High Value Weapons Safety & Suitability for Service Test and Evaluation Portfolio. This role is specific to the ETC within Shoeburyness. The Portfolio is one of four programme areas within the Weapons Services & Investments team and is responsible for delivery of assessment activity related to high hazard weapons, munitions, and energetics via live testing and the provision of assurance-based evidence.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead cross functional teams and develop close working relationships with customers and direct reports alike, supporting functional leads and wider project stakeholders, working closley with operational and engineering teams is fundamental to ensure that safety of our activities is maintained at all times.
Key customers are based in the Bristol area and other locations around the UK. The ability to travel flexibly is a critical element of the role.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Development and maintenance of positive engagement with project customers, partners and suppliers
- Delivery of the project outputs, to agreed baseline (customer satisfaction, time, cost, quality, cash and sales)
- Maintenance of forecasts (both financial and resource demand signal) for sales and delivery which reflects the up-to-date expectations for the work
- Application of governance requirements (including lifecycle, project & independent reviews as appropriate) for foundation sales and delivery work
- Bid activity and opportunity development
- Reporting progress on all accountabilities to programme / portfolio manager
Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager
- Experience of leading a business, projects, programmes, portfolios or P3 function and successfully delivering complex projects
- Leadership: being able to influence and align others towards the vision for the project, and to empower & inspire people to achieve success
- Communication: being able to effectively communicate as part of a two-way interaction, using a range of techniques, to ensure the received meaning matches the transmitted meaning
- Stakeholder Management: being able to identify, plan and implement actions to positively engage parties with an interest in, or influence over, the project outputs
- Business Development: when required, work as a member of a capture team to generate delivery plans, risk registers and costings to support the creation of the proposal document
Essential qualifications for the Senior Project Manager
- Demonstrable capability to APM or equivalent

This role is 37 hours per week based at Shoeburyness. Hybrid working patterns are available.

QinetiQ Shoeburyness is a significant test and evaluation facility specialising in defence and security technologies. The site is focused on Environmental Testing including the evaluation of various ordnance, explosives and related systems.
