QinetiQ Inc. is looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Manager in the fast paced, high tech field of robotics. The Mechanical Engineering Manager will design, develop and field innovative products on a multi-disciplinary team of cutting edge engineers. The group leader will also be responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of a product lifecycle from concept generation to final product fielding. 

 

  • Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team in the mechanical design of military and commercial robotic products.
  • Create design packages of transition to manufacturing and assist in fielding and support of new products.
  • Act as a technical mechanical engineering lead on multiple prototype robotic system designs and builds.
  • Create and assign tasks for team members, supervise and mentor junior level engineers, plan and manage projects including tasks an budgets.
  • Perform basic structural, dynamic and thermal analysis.
  • Perform basic tolerance analysis.
  • Create detailed designs and drawings for fabrication in an IS9100 environment.

 

To Land This Job, You Need:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline, Master's preferred.
  • 7-10 years' experience in mechanical design (5-7 yrs with MSME).
  • 3+ years' experience managing/leading engieering teams on a hardware design and build, multidisciplinary leadership skills preferred.
  • Proficiency using 3-D Solid Modeling software (PTC Creo preferable) and an understanding of machine design and analysis, mechanism design, and electro mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, machining and welding processes.
  • Experience writing product specifications and requirements.
  • Presentation skills and the ability to lead customer interactions.
  • Hands on experience assembling, testing and troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
  • Hands on experience in shop environment and field support roles.
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills with technical & proposal writing experience.
  • Experience with a CAD PDM system a plus.
