As a Maritime Systems Staff Electrical Engineer you will design, build, and troubleshoot end to end electric solutions in autonomy, unmanned, and robotic systems. This includes the design of electrical sub-systems, integration of new features into current solutions, PCB design, and frequent hands-on work in the lab building and debugging electrical systems. In this role, your tasks will range from working on small prototype designs to fully integrated production systems.
QinetiQ Technology Solutions Business Unit applies decades of experience developing and delivering leading edge mission ready solutions. From front line unmanned ground robots to ship and submarine mission critical systems, the QinetiQ team prides itself on overcoming next generation threats with mission-led innovation. Within the Maritime Systems group, you will be exposed to everything from electromagnetic aircraft launch systems deployed on the top of the line Ford-class aircraft carriers to next generation micro-autonomous underwater vehicles actively being iterated on for the Navy’s future needs.
Day to day activities:
- Work within and/or lead multidisciplinary teams of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design and support complex automated systems
- Support the entire component lifecycle from concept design, prototype build, and production implementation
- Design and develop new and novel features for existing products
- Troubleshoot and root cause challenging electrical and systems problems
Desired skills:
- BSEE or equivalent with 4+ years of experience or MSEE or equivalent with 2+ years of experience
- Experience with CAD tools used for electro-mechanical designs and BOM management
- Demonstrated experience using schematic capture and PCB layout software
- Ability to work independently and manage tasking prioritization
- Experience interfacing and collaborating with customers
Additional skills of interest:
- Any cross discipline experience such as a coding language or 3D modelling
- Prior mentorship roles especially within an engineering setting
- Familiarity with military design standards
