Your Contribution to Our Mission:

QinetiQ Inc. is looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated Product Engineering Manager in the fast paced, high tech field of robotics. The Product  Engineering Manager will handle lifecycle management of a range of QinetiQ’s Unmanned Systems products including: design, develop and field innovative solutions to scale new product offerings, enhance current products,  and to mitigate obsolescence issues in the supply chain. The group leader will also be responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of a product component development from concept generation to final item fielding. 

  • Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team to collaborate with Discipline Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and others to own the lifecycle management from introduction, through sustainment and retirement.
  • Lead Technical Engineering design and introduction of new and enhanced products related robotic and defense.  Management of product lifecycle including; quality issues related to product design, component obsolescence in existing products, and  product cost control and reduction.
  • Communicating with Business Area and Manufacturing Leadership to understand and deploy personnel resources according to business needs and resource capability.
  • Create design packages of transition to manufacturing for fabrication in a AS9100 environment and assist in fielding and support of new products when required.
  • Create and assign tasks for team members, supervise and mentor junior level engineers, plan and manage projects including tasks and budgets.
  • Manage the implications of component obsolescence-performance, qualification, drawing updates, and customer impact

To Land This Job, You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline, Master's preferred.
  • 7-10 years' experience in product engineering design (5-7 yrs with MSEE or MSME).
  • 3+ years' experience managing/leading engineering teams on a hardware design and build, multidisciplinary leadership skills preferred.
  • Proficiency using 3-D Solid Modeling software (PTC Creo preferable) and an understanding of machine design and analysis, mechanism design, and electromechanical systems.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about of all aspects of engineering including design-to-cost and DFMA.
  • Experience writing product specifications and requirements.
  • Presentation skills and the ability to lead customer interactions.
  • Hands on experience assembling, testing and troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
  • Hands on experience in shop environment and field support roles.
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills with technical & proposal writing experience.
  • Experience with a CAD PDM system a plus.
