About the role

 

We are currently recruiting for an Electronics Test Technician to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Production Team.  QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.

 

QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

What will I be doing?

 

Reporting to the Electronics Production Supervisor, you will build, inspect and test electro-mechanical assemblies, carry out calibration and repair whilst possessing the ability to understand schematics, and therefore be able to fault find to component level, when required.

 

Duties will include:

 

  • To ensure that the products are manufactured, inspected, tested and when required serviced, in time to the required quality.
  • Testing and calibration of all ground support equipment
  • Support improvements to build, test and inspection documentation.
  • Participate in ATE improvements to maximise throughput and efficiencies.
  • If required to carry out customer servicing on site in front of the customer. This will involve international travel.
  • To carry out additional tasks as directed by Electronics Production Supervisor, Charge Hand or Production Manager.

 

What do I need?

 

You will have a BTEC or HNC / C&G qualification or an equivalent in an Electronics discipline, with experience of testing electronic assemblies including RF, and possess the ability to fault find to component level.

 

You’ll be able to work unsupervised or as a part of a team and have good communication skills.

 

We also ask that you:

 

  • have demonstratable knowledge of Production process to a high standard
  • have the ability and flexibility for international travel
  • are good at problem solving 
  • are able to read and interpret schematics and circuit diagrams
  • are IT literate
  • have experience of Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
  • It would be an advantage if you have an awareness of Continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
