About the role
We are currently recruiting an Electronics Wire Technician to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within the Electronics area of our Production Team. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.
QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.
What will I be doing?
Reporting to the Electronics Supervisor, you will have responsibility for carrying out a range of Electronic Production Department tasks, including assembling PCB’s and building wiring harnesses.
Duties will include:
- Assembling electronic Printed Circuit Boards (PCB’s),
- Assembling mechanical assemblies,
- Using hand tools and pillar drills for basic light metal work,
- Building wiring harnesses,
- Assembling prototype electronic, mechanical, and wiring assemblies,
- Carrying out general stores duties, including record keeping and stock checks,
- Using automated test equipment,
- Ensuring all activities comply with Company Quality Procedures, as defined by the Company’s Quality Manual, and its associated documents,
- Carrying out any additional tasks required, as directed by the Electronics Supervisor, or their deputy.
What do I need?
A proven team player, you will have previous experience of working on a production line, ideally within an electro-mechanical area. You will possess excellent soldering skills, with experience of wiring harness assemblies, and have the ability to read electrical assembly drawings.
With good practical skills, you will have a proven ability to problem-solve, together with high attention to detail. Computer skills, with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, is also desirable. A self-starter, you are motivated, organised, positive and adaptable.
Ideally, you will have experience of working in a manufacturing environment, and also have an awareness of the test environment.
