About the role

We are currently recruiting a temporary HR Advisor to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our busy HR. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state of the art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems including the world leading Banshee target.


QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.


What will I be doing?


Reporting to the HR Manager, you will be a key member of the team providing first class specialist advice to managers and playing a vital role in the recruitment process.


You will support the HR Manager to deliver the people plan and in particular will assist in devising actions which have a positive impact on employee engagement and diversity and inclusion.


Ideally you will work full-time, with 2 to 3 days being office based. However, part-time of 4 days per week will also be considered.


Duties will include:


  • Managing day to day employee relations issues including discipline, grievance and absence

  • Providing advice and guidance to managers on all HR matters including policy, best practise and employment law

  • Assisting in the recruitment, selection and effective induction of new employees. This includes the administration of the SuccessFactors system.

  • Ensuring QTS HR policies and procedures are up to date in line with employment legislation. Consulting with employees regarding any changes as appropriate.

  • Coaching and developing managers to improve performance and create a more engaged team which allows leaders to manage their own teams

  • Supporting the HR Manager to deliver training activities which upskill managers

  • Supporting the annual PDR process and associated salary review process



What do I need?


You will have previous experience in a similar role and good knowledge of UK employment law. Ideally you’ll also have a CIPD qualification.



We also ask that you have:


  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships

  • experience of coaching managers

  • excellent organisation skills

  • a flexible, can-do attitude

  • a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including word and excel


Knowledge of, and experience in using, SuccessFactors would be an advantage.
