About the role

 

We are currently recruiting a Junior Buyer to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Purchasing Team. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems including the world leading Banshee target.

 

QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

What will I be doing?

 

Reporting to the Procurement Manager you’ll be supporting the whole of the Procurement team in making sure we maintain our high standard of delivery to our internal customers.

 

Duties will include:

 

  • Assist buyers in their day-to-day tasks while gaining experience
  • Negotiate optimum prices with supplier ensuring best value procurement
  • Monitor supplier performance measures on purchase price, OTIF and quality and continually seek opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with the expeditor to keep deliveries on track
  • Attend daily production meetings to support build plans
  • Closely collaborate with all key internal customers
  • Prepare purchase orders
  • Resolve supply or invoice queries
  • Check purchase order acknowledgements from suppliers
  • Maintain Procurement documents and procedures
  • Data input and carry out production system maintenance

 

What do I need?

 

You will have Procurement department experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing environment and have recently gained or be working towards your CIPS qualification.

 

You’ll be calm under pressure and able to work as part of a team.
