The Team

Hebrides Engineering:

The QinetiQ Hebrides Range Engineering Communications Group is made up of multidisciplinary teams who deliver high quality & expert service to a wide range of military & government customers, conducting testing, trials, training and evaluation on the largest Air and Sea Range in Western Europe. 

The Networks & Communications team is recruiting apprentices to take up a full time role as part of the team based in the Outer Hebrides and supporting the wider group throughout the UK.

This role is focused around a training and development framework that will see successful candidates work through a competency structure that provides the foundation for registering with professional bodies and kick starting your career.

This is a hands on role with the opportunity to work across with a wide variety of IT and communications systems and supporting infrastructure.

Academic requirements:

Candidates can enter at either SCQF level 6 or level 8 depending on attained qualifications.  ​​​​​

• Applicants must have attained or be predicted 5 x  National 5's, A - C including English Language, Mathematics and Physics and 2 others subjects and meet the entry requirements for a SCQF level 6

Additional information:

• Candidates should be passionate about computing and electronics. If your hobbies include PC building / programming, amateur radio, UAV/radio controlled vehicles then this could be the apprenticeship for you.
• Successful applicants shall be required to undertake and pass Helicopter Underwater Escape training, in order to travel to the island of St Kilda for occasional deployments.
• This role involves supporting working at height activities on masts and towers and requires successful completion of associated medicals and training.
• All required specialist training is provided.

Please note that under immigrations rules, our Early Careers roles do not meet the legal threshold for candidates who are residents of the UK on student visas.
