The role

As a Senior Project Controller or Principal Project Controller, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary, supporting projects in the National Security business where you will be responsible for the delivery of project controls within an assigned team, under the leadership of a Programme Controller.

Day to day you will:

  • Support projects within your delivery team and other large and complex strategic programmes
  • Enable the service delivery and performance of project teams with assigned delivery teams or programmes
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other members of the PCP&R and wider Delivery Support function
  • A good understanding of project finances and reporting metrics
  • Contribute to the design and improvement of project support capability and process.

This role is full-time, with adaptive working available. The role is hybrid with an expectation of 2-3 days working on-site at your base location.


Essential experience of a Senior Project Controller or Principal Project Controller

  • Working knowledge of project management principles and how project control activities underpin them
  • Demonstrate competence in SAP, MS Excel, (including add-ins), Word, Outlook, Project, Powerpoint and SharePoint
  • Good organisational skills, record keeping skills and awareness of the project lifecycle
  • Intermediate process management skills and in a number of project support activities and tools
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at varying levels


Qualifications for the a Senior Project Controller or Principal Project Controller

  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE level (to include English and Mathematics).
  • Competence against agreed Project Controls Competency Framework at a level of Foundation or APMP Introductory Certificate desirable.

Please note that all applicants must hold, or be eligible to gain SC clearance, as a minimum.  The successful candidate must be willing to apply for an enhanced level of security clearance.
