Group Project and Programme Risk Manager

As the Project & Programme Risk Management lead across QinetiQ Group, this role will lead the development, implementation, training and continuous improvement of all elements of project & programme risk management across the company’s global footprint. The role will ensure that the companies risk management approaches are fit for purpose, meet the needs of the business units and group functions and are aligned to best practice. 
The post holder will work closely with each business unit and group function to understand how risk management is progressing and identifying areas for future improvement through the P3M maturity assessment and other feedback methods. They will also collaborate with the Group Director Risk & Governance.


Key Accountabilities

1.    Leading and influencing the development, improvement and implementation of project & programme risk management across QinetiQ Group.
2.    Being the recognised expert in project and programme risk management within QinetiQ Group. Providing advice and guidance to the Business Risk Managers, Group functions, Group Performance Excellence Director and the Group Director Risk & Governance as needed.
3.    Owning QinetiQ’s risk management tooling, configuration and licencing and support its continued roll-out in the UK and internationally.
4.    Creating a vibrant and engaged community of risk management professionals within QinetiQ.
5.    Providing risk management assurance on major projects prior to offer release and other major reviews.
6.    Promoting QinetiQ’s risk management approach both internally and externally. 
7.    Working with Project Management and other Project Controls disciplines to ensure a coherent, clear and joined approach to the project management community.

6.    Stakeholder Management: Able to engage, communicate and influence effectively with a variety of key stakeholders at all levels of the company. 
7.    Influencing: Able to facilitate discussions and successfully resolve conflicts to result in the best approach for the overall company. 
8.    Analytical: Has expertise in the application of quantitative risk models and analysis techniques.
9.    holistic: Has practical experience of how other Project Management disciplines interact with risk management.
10.    Motivated: Is proactive, success-driven and able to define the way forward with limited supervision.
11.    Integrity: Is able to address poor behaviours, performance or outputs in a constructive manner. 
12.    Ambassador - Able to present both internally and externally at conferences, leadership events and channels.


Experience & Qualifications
1.    A proven track record of scoping, developing, implementing and embedding risk management changes on a wide range of complex projects is essential. 
2.    A wide range of experience in managing risks on complex programmes is essential (maintaining Risk Registers, Risk Escalation, and Reporting etc). 
3.    Experience in leading the development, implementation and assurance of Monte-Carlo models and interpreting the outputs (both cost and schedule) is essential.
4.    Experience in the use of at least one proprietary risk tool (ARM, Predict!) is essential.
5.    Holding a relevant qualification or certification in Risk Management is desirable.
6.    Membership of an appropriate professional organisation (such as APM, IRM) is desirable.
7.    Experience of managing and administering a risk management tool (such as Predict!) is desirable. 
8.    Evidence of external engagement on risk management (such as conference papers, Specific Interest Group (SIG) memberships, articles or books) is desirable. 
9.    Experience of risk management in the defence domain is desirable. 
10.  Experience of International risk management (especially US, Canada, Germany or Australia) is desirable.
