About the role:
Here at QinetiQ we have a number of exciting opportunities for Safety Engineers. There is flexibility to be based out of any of our sites, with flexible working arrangements and travel when required for projects
We are looking for candidates who have knowledge of vehicles combines with safety experience to build a career in this area, along with candidates who are already SME’s in this field to take on a Senior Safety Engineer role. As a Senior Safety Engineer you will also be responsible for delivery of your own project work and for providing leadership to customers and colleagues on bids and deliverable work.
What will I be doing?
Key Accountabilities
- Accountable for delivery of own work to required standards, policy, legislation and customer requirements
- Collaborate with wider teams within the group to support bids and project delivery in the land domain.
- Supervision and mentoring of less experienced colleagues as required
- Representing QinetiQ at customer meetings
- Provide peer review of safety deliverables for other work within their area of competence.
What do I need?
- Aptitude for; or, experience of a team leader role.
- Broad experience of UK defence land environment.
- Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and work instructions.
- Takes responsibility for own development and actively pursues learning and development opportunities.
- Coaching & mentoring of team members.
- Able to advise stakeholders on the most appropriate strategies and processes to support land systems/ platform safety management.
Experience & Qualifications
- Good understanding of UK Land platform/equipment safety.
- Sufficient experience and demonstrable competence in safety engineering for the UK MOD land environment (e.g. Hazard logs, Safety Arguments, SECR,SEMP)
- Proven experience of building effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communicator, a strategic and forward thinker.
- Business delivery focused.
- Ability to maintain a calm head and approach, especially during busy times.
- Must have a proactive approach and able to work without supervision to achieve the required goals.
- Security Clearance to be held and maintained at level appropriate for the role. (SC)
