About the Role:
Are you a Scheduler looking for a new challenge with the opportunity to work on a range of simple and complex projects? This hands on role will focus on scheduling competencies and stake holder engagement within a wider PMO team. With an adaptive working model, you’ll be able to be based at one of our main offices at either Bristol, Farnborough or Malvern and you’ll have flexibility in working from home.
You’ll have the opportunity to get your teeth stuck into large, highly complex projects with frequent change, delivering high value scheduling. You’ll be engaging with senior stakeholders and programme managers as well as working within simple projects with a much quicker turn-around. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and ever changing environment on multiple projects across various areas of the business.
What will I be doing:
You’ll be responsible for the delivery of a varied spectrum of complex and high value scheduling and planning competencies across assigned projects within the Cyber & Information area of the business. You’ll support in Identify major milestones, decision points, project life-cycle and other project events to help to troubleshoot and monitor potential scheduling problems. Using your understanding of how to work with key stakeholders, you’ll monitor and control the project through the various phases of the project lifecycle;
- Develop and maintain project schedules and running regular health checks supported by Acumen Fuse
- Supporting in the implementation of the change control process in accordance with the UKI PMO Strategy and QinetiQ Operating Framework
- Troubleshoot and monitor potential scheduling problems
- Provide monthly update reporting for the project including critical path analysis and manpower/resource reporting and forecasting
- Support Project Controls with monthly project reporting
- Support development of junior schedulers by providing shadowing and training opportunities
- Champion Best Practice and apply lessons learned within the team, with programme and project teams and other key delivery partners
What do I need:
You’ll need experience in some of the following areas;
- 2 years’ or more experience in a project scheduler role
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply a variety of schedule analysis and optimisation techniques (such as Critical Path analysis, schedule variance)
- Understand schedule performance tools and techniques, such as Earned Value Management (EVM)
- MS Project or P6 experience required
- Good IT skills using Microsoft software i.e. Excel, Word
- Project management qualification; APM membership or PRINCE desirable
- Programme or Project Controls Qualification – Practitioner or equivalent
