We are pleased to welcome applications from experienced Windows Engineers with current security clearance (NV2 minimum) for an opportunity with a key Defence client in Canberra.   

 

Should our bid be successful, the Windows Engineer will be required to develop and maintain software components for the client's system using automation solutions for the installation process. In doing, so, they will ensure that all solutions are documented and integrate with interfacing systems. Working within the team this Engineer will need to support other team members including on-site representatives to fault find and diagnose system faults as they arise. It is expected that the resource fulfilling this position is able to work both independently and as part of the broader team to meet objectives, providing advice as required on suitable solutions for the development of the product.

 

In more specific terms, the Windows Engineer will:

  • Design and document the HQOTM MPE node
  • Review and provide advice on the design and implementation of interfacing systems
  • Develop and maintain software components and integrate existing software components and applications
  • Automate solution installations
  • Build, administer, and support production HQOTM MPE nodes
  • Contribute to the developent of training material
  • Perform level three support of the production system
  • Baseline and maintain system configuration control and maintain the software list
  • Develop and implement Patch Management Plan for HQOTM MPE nodes

 

The ideal applicant for this role will present with:

  • Substantial experience in developing software for a Windows environment using Microsoft Development Tools
  • Experience with Windows SOE creation via PXE and with Powershell script development
  • Experience with Group Policy configuration, CI/CD pipeline technology i.e Gitlab Actions, KVM virtualisation and Openstack and with Ansible
  • Experience with SharePoint Administration and configuration and with Active directory and ADFS
  • Experience with troubleshooting code written by others
  • Ability to travel at short notice (less than one week’s notice) to defence units across Australia

 

The following experience is preferred, but not essential:

  • Experience with layer 2 and 3 networking configuration and management
  • Experience working with deployable communications and information systems (CIS)
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes and of the Defence Capability Lifecycle
  • Experience working within an agile project management framework
  • Experience developing, customising and administering Linux hosts
  • Other scripting skills including bash and python

 

What is essential is a current Defence security clearance to NV2 (or higher).  Unfortunately applicants without clearance to this level cannot be considered on this occasion.
