We are pleased to welcome applications from experienced ICT Systems Engineers with current security clearance (NV2 minimum) for an opportunity with a key Defence client in Canberra.  

 

Should our bid be successful, the ICT Systems Engineer will be required to provide support n the development and maintenance of software components for the client's system using automation solutions for the installation process. In doing so, they will be required to support the documentation and integration with interfacing systems. Working within the team, this Engineer will support other team members including on-site representatives to fault find and diagnose system faults as they arise, and through monitoring of incident management systems in use. It is expected that the resource fulfilling this position is able to work both independently and as part of the broader team to meet objectives.

 

In more specific terms, this role is accountable to:

  • Provide level 3 support for the resolution of incidents and issues for HQOTM nodes
  • Support the replication and development of resolution for issues
  • Perform system monitoring and configuration compliance of HQOTM nodes and support the build of HQOTM nodes
  • Perform level three support of production HQOTM nodes
  • Review and update documentation for HQOTM nodes and support and development environments
  • Administer and maintain the HQOTM support and development environments
  • Contribute to training material development
  • Baseline and maintain system configuration control
  • Contribute to the development of additional features and functionality the HQOTM support and development environment and to development of updates, upgrades, and additional features for HQOTM nodes
  • Provide surge support as required for on-site activities

 

The ideal applicant presents with:

  • Experience customising and providing system administration for both Linux and Windows based servers and applications
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Experience with DEVOPS methodologies
  • Prior experience with deployed systems

 

Whilst not essential, experience in some of the following will be well regarded:

  • ITILv4 experience or certification
  • Experience automating and scripting application installation and customisation
  • Experience developing systems running on Linux and/or Windows
  • Experience managing and configuring network devices
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes and knowledge of the Defence Capability Lifecycle
  • Experience developing and maintaining standard operating procedures
  • Experience working within agile project management framework
  • Experience with applications such as, Jira, Ansible, Git, Python, Powershell, UNIX shells, Openstack and/or oOther virtualisation platforms
  • Experience with bespoke Windows and Linux standard operating environments (SOE)
  • Experience with AUS MPE and/or IBTN

 

What is essential is a current Defence security clearance to NV2 (or higher).  Unfortunately applicants without clearance to this level cannot be considered on this occasion.
