With our continued growth, we are looking for talented Project Support Officer’s (PSO’s) to join our Canberra team, supporting our Major Service Projects (MSP) Division.

 

Our MSP Division, is part of a large and well respected consortium of independent, technical management partners, which include Nova Systems and PwC: supported by a range of specialist SMEs. The MSP portfolio covers the CASG Maritime, Land, Air and Joint Domains, employing over 800 individual management consultants in partnership with our Defence Clients. This long standing arrangement enables us to provide development pathways for our employees and hugely diverse opportunities in terms of role, specialisation or location. From contributing to the design specification of a new weapon system, establishing sustainment processes for critical defence material or working closely with the world’s most advanced Defence manufacturers.

 

We share and support Defence’s commitment to growing and improving Australia’s military capability. We do this by delivering large, long term, integrated work packages across the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), working closely with both uniformed and public service staff.

 

The opportunity

We have a range of different opportunities for PSOs in our Canberra Team, supporting a wide variety of Defence projects. As such, we will work with you to target the area that is of greatest interest to yourself and most beneficial to your future career with QinetiQ. We will also assist you with your transition into the role, and developing your skills as a Junior Project Manager through mentoring and targeted professional development.

 

As a PSO, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Preparation of correspondence, briefings, submissions and reports
  • Coordination and scheduling of a range of project activities
  • Working with external stakeholders to minimise impact to the project delivery schedule
  • Analysis of project performance against agreed plans and developing and initiating strategies to achieve project outcomes
  • Analysis of project plans and artefacts to ensure compliance with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks

 

To be successful in the position of PSO, you will need to bring with you:

  • Previous experience in Project Coordination or Project Support  (ideal)
  • Relevant qualifications in Project Management or related discipline
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders and effective communication skills
  • A passion for learning and the ability to prioritise and multi-task while working independently or in a team
  • Strong attention to detail along with demonstrated planning and organisational skills
