QinetiQ is currently looking to employ Skill Level 4 (Expert) and a Skill Level 3 (Advanced Practitioner) Project Managers to work within the Defence environment. QinetiQ supports a significant spectrum of project engagements within Defence, ranging from business feasibility studies, conceptual analysis, test & evaluation, and conformance activities, through to systems integration. The Project Manager, as part of QinetiQ Advisory Services, will provide leadership and hands-on capabilities assisting Navy, Army, and Air force, in addition to enabling Groups including CASG, ASD and CIOG, to support acquisition, military and business operations. Defence has a number of programs, projects and other key strategic business initiatives to plan, deliver, and sustain capabilities. QinetiQ are therefore seeking Project Managers that have the ability to demonstrate experience in speciality areas, as well as those that have more broad–based capabilities.

 

As a Project Manager your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide holistic oversight, direction and coordination of Defence project engagements from concept to retirement
  • Plan, manage and evaluate programs, operations, and processes
  • Conduct research by sourcing information from across Defence
  • Analyse complex data sets and systems
  • Identify trends; prepare reports, recommendations and advice
  • Support the Capability Life Cycle as required, and
  • Delivering urgent or high level tasking across projects.

 

Experience working within Defence, or a Defence related industry is a positive, though consideration to applicants with a background in large-scale engagements, either other Government Agencies, or major Private Sector organisations will be considered. Other desired experience includes:

  • Knowledge of the project management capability lifecycle, or industry equivalent
  • Experience in planning, development, and delivery of Defence or similar engagements
  • Project management experience within complex project, or program of projects
  • Working within Australian Government Departments experience or Defence Industry
  • Developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in building and maintaining stakeholder relations to influence and lead decision makers, and
  • Hold AIPM, PMI, or equivalent Project Management qualifications

 

Applicants MUST be eligible to obtain an Australian Government security clearance.

The nature of the information that practitioners in this role handle or may be exposed at Defence dictate the necessity for security clearances issued by the Australian Government.  As such it is a requirement that all applicants currently hold, or are eligible to obtain a security clearance.
